Master’s Thesis Finished!
July 31, 2007July 11 became the day where we handed in the Master Thesis (3 weeks before the official deadline actually). Since then we have taken the time to take a break before we start on our “real” jobs as graduates. We will both be working at IBM (one of the companies which have invested most resources in Second Life actually), Torunn will work in Oslo and Grith in Copenhagen. The Thesis defence will take place in the end of August and we hope to publish the Thesis soon after that.
Have a great sommer
At the finishing line?
June 16, 2007During the last weeks, we have been working hard with our Master’s Thesis, including a lot of re-writing and creating a new model for the Master’s Thesis. In connection with the new model, we are planning to do some interviewes with participants in Second Life in the next week. We have decided to have a closer look at the cases Mercedes-Benz and Sony BMG, and the participants of our survey are asked to have a closer look at those two locations, before the interview.

We are really looking forward to meeting our participants in Second Life
ITEK Seminar
May 26, 2007The ITEK seminar about Second Life provided great inspiration about pros and cons for Second Life.
Søren A. Johansen, Innovation Manager at eVision Group raised the discussions about how Second Life can create value for companies and customers. Lars Lundbye, Development Manager at Zentropa Workz gave a holistic view of the development of our internet habits in a sociological perspective and raised the discussion about weather Second Life is a hype or not. Thomas Koldbæk, eBusiness Analyst at Grundfos gave a preview of Grundsfos’ Second Life project which is planned to open in August.
Thank you to ITEK (Ulla) for inviting us.
Directory Second Life!

Conference at Deloitte.
May 2, 2007April 20 we participated in the Second Life Conference at Deloitte. The main focus of the seminar was, not surprisingly, about virtual economies and taxation in virtual worlds. The output was very interesting and we got many pointers for the thesis. In addition, we met some of our contacts from Second Life in “real” life. The man point of the conference in connection to taxation in virtual worlds was “when the economy becomes important enough realty and regulation will come”.
The case presented by SAXO Bank was a brilliant example of a company with has well defined objectives about their presence in Second Life.
